I truly have to say, I was blown away when I saw this. This is without a doubt, an honor and humbling experience to have happen. I have to give thanks to God, Maxim, and New England Patriots DB Leigh Bodden. There is also a special homie I’d like to thank, but he truly deserves his own shine. The whole situation is funny because of how the events unfolded.

Jimmy, Simon, and I actually met Leigh Bodden at the Casio G Shock event with Nicki Minaj and The Roots back in April. We were in the VIP suite showcasing our brand, and for those who don’t know how it works, the celebrities walk by a number of brands in the suite and you show them your line (similar to a sneaker con or kixpo except the celebs don’t buy, *I know I wish I were a celeb too). Now with any venture you deal with while your brand is still starting out, you will ultimately have to take wins and losses. Going into the event we were ready for all outcomes because we viewed it as a great way to shine some light on our line.

So basically we had one sample of each shirt style set up on the table to view, but we gave out samples of our Goatsworth mascot tee for their gift bags. It just so happened that when Leigh Bodden came over to our table he took a keen interest in our “Legendary Fumble” tee. The only issue was, as just stated, we only had one style on the table. Simon tried to reason this logic with him, but he wouldn’t let up on the issue that he needed this shirt. Simon then softened up and asked what size he was, with him replying he was a large. Simon looked down at the shirt and smiled and said today’s your lucky day. He then happily took the shirt and told us that he would wear the item everyday.

Now As I mentioned earlier, in this game you have to be ready for wins and losses. I personally brushed off the idea that he would actually wear it, not at discrediting my own brand, but at the fact that he is a celebrity and is able to obtain any clothing he wishes at the drop of a hat. Low and behold three months later, a good number of shirts passed out to celebs, and a reply on facebook(you’ll understand this one in a sec.) Leigh Bodden kept up his word and was spotted in July’s issue of MAXIM magazine rocking our gear.

This truly almost brought a tear to my eye seeing this. Now as far as how we found out, I have to say the biggest thanks goes to our homie Ian Nong. I couldn’t even put him in a thank you list with other mentions because he honestly deserves his own special shout out. If it weren’t for him I wouldn’t have even known we were in this issue. I don’t frequent their publication that often, although I do love their model choices for covers. So when I came across his post on our facebook wall on June 17th, I was completely startled. Thanks homie, you’ve earned a special slot in the GKS fam.

I want to stress that as well, everyone who buys, looks at or appreciates what we do, I can’t consider fans or just consumers. You guys are an extension of us and why we are trying to do what we do, that’s why I would prefer fam over fans. A fan can turn on you, but your fam regardless will support and respect your work ethic. Again a special thanks to Ian, and all present and future GKS fam.
Stay in The Know Folks,
