With just a little less more than a month before the release of Activision and Silicon Knights’ X-Men: Destiny, players are finally getting a look at the different power sets they’ll have access to come September 27. The three power sets — energy projection, density control and shadow matter — seem to manifest similarly between the game’s three playable characters, with Aimi Yoshida, Grant Alexander and Adrian Luca.
Though each character comes from a different background, it’s still unclear how much their choice of powers will affect their journey through a “decision point” driven narrative. At any rate, it’s a little disappointing not to get a glimpse at the game’s “X-Gene” powers adopted from established heroes and villains from X-lore. Nice as these new powers might be, a few more ties to the core X-Men universe would be exciting to see.
Ah man, we’re def getting closer to being able to have Ryu face off against King. SO DOPE. Here is the trailer that showcases some of the characters moves, as well as a few specials. *DEAD* at Kuma’s special LMAO. (sidenote: Will we ever get a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter? I’m waiting for that… Wishful thinking I know..)
Ah, it only seems like yesterday all you needed in life was a lunchables, some footroll up and a Nintendo 64 with Goldeneye. Well nostolgia fans look no further than your PS3 or XBOX 360 this fall. Some say the original GoldenEye game is largely credited with redefining the modern first-person shooter video game (s0rry Doom).
Anyone who’s played the 2010 game won’t find too many surprises with Reloaded. Single player is the same and multiplayer features 16-player matches and the classic four-way split-screen. The graphics have seen a huge boost thanks to the HD upgrade. It also adds achievements and an “Mi6 Operations” mode. Mi6 consists of single player challenges categorized by “assault,” “stealth,” “defence” and “elimination” much like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s “Spec Ops” missions.
Also, Pierce Brosnan is gone as Bond. Reloaded‘s re-imagining now features Daniel Craig as Bond (Craig’s voice appears in the game). Trevor Jalowitz, Executive Producer of the game, says the team turned to the source material rather than copying the previous game. The team even brought in GoldenEye screenwriter Bruce Feirstein and composer David Arnold to help realize the (slightly) new approach.
Reloaded is still gunning for modern shooters like Call of Duty with similar game mechanics, controls and emphasis on cinematic set pieces. Jalowitz says Reloaded isn’t trying to reinvent the multiplayer genre but create a solid, kick-ass game.
Paramount Pictures has registered a new Godfather domain, suggesting a new game may be in the works; playthegodfather.com now belongs to the company. Going by the name — and this is speculation in its wildest form — could it perhaps be a browser-based undertaking? Details of course are lacking, not to say non-existent, beyond the date of the registration: July 13th, or this Wednesday. Time will tell.
